Introduction
This self-developed computer aided instruction (CAI) project is an attempt to improve elementary Japanese learning via the use of computer programs. It was originally developed as an intranet version for our Cantonese-speaking students in the JAS computer room. We now provide the Internet version of the aid for public use. It is a trimmed-down version of the intranet program with fewer sound and visual effects. This allows for greater speed over the Internet. This Japanese learning aid consists of 48 lessons which correspond to the lessons in the Japanese textbooks (Nihongo 1 and 2) published by the Japanese Studies Department, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
