簡介

是甚麼讓我們可以無窮盡地發現新知識的呢?自十七世紀以來,科學發現的速度不斷增加,時至今日,「DNA:生命的秘密」已被發現並人人耳熟能詳,希格斯粒子幾乎已確定存在,而人類已能操控最微細的物質。在不久的將來,例如說,在一個世紀內,我們是否會走到知識窮盡的一日?在達爾文、居禮夫人、愛恩斯坦之後,站在今天的我們,還可以希望發現些甚麼呢?

晨興書院院長兼諾貝爾經濟學獎得主莫理斯教授將與我們分享這個他深感興趣的問題。

Brief Description

What makes new knowledge possible? With “DNA: the secret of life” discovered and read, the Higgs boson almost certainly identified, and matter manipulated at the smallest possible scale, will we soon -- in a century, say -- exhaust everything there is to know? The world has witnessed an accelerated rate of scientific discovery since the 17th century. Standing here and now, after Darwin, Curie and Einstein, how much more can we hope to discover?

Professor Sir James A. Mirrlees, Master of Morningside College and Nobel Laureate in economics sciences, will share with us his thoughts and insights on this intriguing topic.
